Types of Chemical Peels

A chemical peel uses a chemical solution to smooth the texture of your skin, revealing clearer, even, more radiant skin. The goal of a peel is to reveal a new layer of healthy skin cells. Chemical peels should be performed by a well trained professional who can customize the peel for your skin type.

Chemical peels are one of the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedures performed to rejuvenate the skin’s appearance. There are many different types of peeling solutions such as: Glycolic Acid, Pyruvic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Trichloracetic Acid, Lactic, Phytic, Resorcinol and Jessner’s Solution. During your peel, a chemical solution will be applied to the skin and will be left on for a varying amount of time. This will depend on the depth of the peel. With a mild peel, the skin will become dry, tight and sometimes swell. Within two to three days you will experience peeling, which can last up to five days. When having a deeper peel, you can have swelling, redness, tight dry skin followed by the skin scaling and peeling. This is all a normal part of the peeling experience. The deeper the peel, the more peeling you will have and the longer the process will take. It is very important to follow the home care instructions given to you by your skin care specialist.

Testimonals

I had interviewed several doctors and my decision to have Dr Berris MD provide my surgical procedures was by far my best possible choice. And thank you so very much to his staff.

From first appointment for evaluation, staff getting authorization for upper eyelid surgery and forehead lift, and then to surgery, all staff were so helpful, courteous, and caring. I would refer others to Dr. Craig Berris.
